Sennah EP

Sennah EP

I first heard of this band when I was guest listed to a Tokyo Rose gig in my home town of Peterborough. I didn't like Tokyo Rose but a free gig's a free gig at the end of the day so off I went. We got there extremely late and I only just managed to catch a couple of songs from the band on before them. I stood in the middle of the room as the singer captivated me. She really connected with the fans, hopping over the barriers to dance with them and was such a pleasure to watch perform. Immediately after the gig I went over to the merchandise table and introduced myself. It turned out that I'd actually gone to college with one of the members and was friends with his class mates girlfriend, small world eh. We spoke for a while while I was waiting for my friend to finish up talking with Tokyo Rose and headed off home with the CD I got off Sennah on repeat all the way back to Hitchin.

The EP is professionally made and quite impressive to look at but what about to listen to? Well! The first track is called All I Needed and after a short intro it bursts in to a alternative song that you would expect from an already globally massive band. They sound incredible for an unsigned band! Laura's vocals are nothing outstanding or more amazing than anyone else but she is still in her own right a very good singer and perfect for this band, her stage presence is one of the best I've ever seen. With heart felt lyrics give this one a real listen and it could quite possibly bring a tear to your eye. Under the heavy guitar and drums lies a very meaningful song which hits you right in the chest and it wasn't the only one on the EP to do that.

Track 2 is Pity and I could REALLY connect with this song. It's almost sort of rap metal but not quite. Heavy guitars cover the real meaning of this song but again if you take time to listen the song talks about being homeless and how people that whine over the smallest thing really need to open their eyes to the world around them. I was homeless myself which is why this really kicks a chord for me and possibly why it's my favourite on the EP. A lot of songs today are about love, about pretty useless topics but Sennah really understand the more important issues and talk about it through their songs.

Number 3 is Come Down and kicks off with an amazing guitar part straight away. This one is quite heavier than the last 2 but again another fantastic track, this band would really suit the heavier of fans, underground, dirty, heavy metal with a female singer...just the way I like it! I'd be surprised if these guys weren't around for a long time as they have a lot of potential, they manage to bring so much imagery to each of their songs. Laura calls herself on myspace "heavy metal heartbreaker" and I can see why listening to these lyrics, she's beautiful and sings about really deep topics.

Track 4 It's My Turn is fast, catchy, moshable so buy this EP, get your pit started in your bedroom a few mates round and blast this track up high! Failing that just get your air guitars out and play along (unless you have a real guitar). Every song on this EP is definately worthy of any metal chart and with the right promotion it would break all of them with a fantastic position so tell everyoen you know to buy Sennah's EP!

The last track is Shallow Eyes, there isn't much more I can say about this that I haven't said before. Sennah manage to keep the imagery, heart felt lyrics, amazing guitar riffs and drum parts in every song throughout this EP without making it sound repetitive. Fantastic live (worthy head liners), gorgeous band, incredible music, all I can say is why are you still reading this! Go to the website and order the EP, if you like alternative rock with a heavy edge and female vocals you will not be disappointed!
