The Audio Line EP

The Audio Line EP

The Audio Line, this is a band I came across by total accident but everytime I hear them I'm glad I did! Talking to a girl about music on a website I found out she was a drummer herself and asked for a CD from her band. Since that day we've carried on talking and I've continued to help them. The band come from between Lincoln and Doncaster and have won all sorts of local competitions, radio recognition, recorded in America and have also opened infront of an absolute huge crowd supporting Westlife. I would class then as a jazz/funk/easy listening rock band but one that all music fans could enjoy.

The first song on the 3 track EP is Duality and when I hit play I almost forgot I was supposed to be reviewing it. The song takes you on a trip floating through the clouds, it's totally chilled but doesn't lose the rock vibe. Becca's vocals are almost angelic mixed with Debs on drums, Ed on bass and Jon on guitar together they blend in to a mix of music you'd expect to hear from the likes of classic artists such as Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton. No wonder they're already a huge hit in and around south yorkshire and north lincolnshire.

Track number 2 is Ghost. Again and easy listening track, a little repetitive on the guitar but quickly forgiven by Becca's vocals. A very catchy chorus that even if you don't know the words I bet you'll be giving it your best shot to join in. I can see why the song is probably called Ghost with it's haunting sound hidden in the background.

The final track is my favourite, Shadow Falls. I knew this song already from the raw CD I was given a little while ago and immediately started singing along. This song is funk/jazz/easily listening at it's very best before suddenly the chorus powers in taking this song in to a new dimension then back to the flow that once was. Everything in this song is perfect, drums, guitar, vocals, bass, just flawless! What I love about this song the most though is just as it's nearing it's end in comes a very powerful Eric Clapton/Jimi Hendrix-esque solo guitar part. There really isn't much I can say about this apart from wow! Seriously if you've never heard of them GO NOW! You will not be disappointed!

The article is great, with the exception that the author is not giving credit to the correct guitarist. Peter Chappell is the guitarist featured on the CD, not Jon. I suppose it is no longer public knowledge that they had a totally different guitarist in the band, who co-wrote the music on the CD... read full review
